HM Courts and Tribunals Head Office

The HM Courts and Tribunals Service is an agency which is responsible for the administration of the courts of England and Wales, the Probate Service and the Tribunals. It was formed in 2011 as a merger between Her Majesty’s Court Service and the Tribunals Service. The head office of the agency is based in 102 Petty France, London, SW1, but it operates in locations around England and Wales. If you need to contact the HM Courts and Tribunals head office, you can do so by calling 0843 178 7412. When you call this number, you’ll be advised to have your appeal number, or your National Insurance number ready, so that the team can assist you quickly. You will then be told to hold for the next available operator – there are no menu options.

Forms Helpline

If you need to find a specific form related to courts and tribunals, you can get assistance by calling the HM Courts and Tribunals Service contact number on 0843 178 7413. Some of the forms that you may need include divorce forms, probate forms, money claims and deed poll forms. If you know the number of the form that you need, this will help you find it faster. You can also search for specific forms online. When you call the number above, please hold for the next available operator who will be able to assist you with finding relevant forms.

Fees Helpline

In England and Wales, if you go to court or a tribunal, you may be required to pay fees. The exact fee depends on the case, and if you are on benefits or a low income, you may be eligible to pay a reduced fee. You usually have to pay in person at a court, or by cheque. If you are unsure of how to pay a fee or you can’t afford a fee, you can call the HM Courts and Tribunals service fees helpline on 0843 178 7414. When you call this number, wait for the next available operator who will help you.

Wills, Probate and Inheritance Helpline

When someone passes away, their property, money and possessions must be dealt with legally – known as their estate. You can use yourself, a solicitor or a legal professional to represent their estate, and this is known as probate. You will need to pay Inheritance Tax on money you receive after a person passes away. If you have any questions relating to wills, probate or inheritance, you can contact the HM Courts and Tribunals Service on 0843 178 7415. When you call this number, hold after the initial automated message and the operator will help you.

Divorce Helpline

Sadly, marriages sometimes break down. If you’ve been married for more than a year, you can get a divorce. You need to send paperwork to the court in order to apply for a divorce, and you don’t need to go to court unless you disagree about children, money and property, as well as the reasons for ending the marriage. If you are confused about the divorce process or you have any questions, you can call the divorce helpline on 0843 178 7416.

Appeals

If you disagree with a decision made by a Tribunal, you can appeal it. This includes decisions relating to benefits, child maintenance, tax credits, HMRC, Border Force and the National Crime Agency. There are two different Tribunals to appeal to – the Social Security and Child Support tribunal, and the First Tier Tribunal. The latter is for issues with HMRC, Border Force and the National Crime Agency. If you are in the middle of making an appeal, or you have a question before you make an appeal, you can contact the Appeals helpline on 0843 178 7417.
